Sun Suites
First Impressions
Walking into Sun Suites on a quiet side street in Kadıköy, you immediately get the sense this is one of those places locals would actually recommend to visiting friends. The lobby feels warm without trying too hard — there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this four-star property that sets it apart from the flashier hotels across the Bosphorus. You know what struck me most? The staff genuinely seemed to remember guests’ names, which makes sense given how many people apparently come back here.
The Kadıköy Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying in Istanbul — everyone gravitates toward Sultanahmet or Taksim, but Kadıköy is where you actually get to live like an Istanbulite. From Sun Suites, you’re a five-minute walk to the ferry terminal (honestly, the best commute in the city), and the neighborhood buzzes with authentic energy. The Tuesday market practically happens outside your door, and I mean this — couples consistently rate the location 9.2 out of 10, which tells you something about how this area grows on you. The Asian side gets overlooked, but that’s exactly why it works so well.
Your Room and Space
The room I stayed in felt more like a well-designed city apartment than typical hotel accommodation. Everything’s thoughtfully sized for the space — you’re not bumping into furniture, but you’re also not rattling around in some cavernous suite. The kitchenette actually functions (I tested it with Turkish coffee), and the bathroom has that perfect water pressure you hope for but rarely expect. What I appreciated most was the soundproofing — Çilek Sokak stays pretty quiet, but you still get that sense of urban life happening just outside without it keeping you awake.
The Neighborhood Experience
Step outside Sun Suites and you’re immediately in real Istanbul — not the tourist version, but the version where people actually live and work. The restaurant scene around here is incredible, honestly. You’ve got everything from tiny lokanta serving home-style Turkish food to trendy spots that wouldn’t look out of place in Brooklyn. Moda’s waterfront is a fifteen-minute stroll when you want to escape the city buzz, and the vintage shops along Bahariye Caddesi are perfect for wandering. I actually found myself using this area as my base and just ferrying over to the European side when I needed to hit the major sights.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
There’s something to be said for a hotel that earns genuine loyalty rather than just chasing new bookings. The repeat guest rate here tells the real story — people discover Sun Suites, fall for the combination of solid comfort and authentic location, then keep returning. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Istanbul, but it nails what actually matters: a great room, a neighborhood worth exploring, and staff who treat hospitality like it actually means something. For the price point, especially considering that location rating, you’re getting way more value than you’d find in the more obvious tourist zones.

Guest Reviews
The location is not glamorous (like many other places in the area), but close to everything in Kadikoy.
The bed was okay, the temperature in the room was okay (some people would want it warmer), you had to wait for about 1 minute for the water in the tap to get hot in January, but that's understandable.
The free breakfast was a nice addition – very very simple, but totally edible, brought to the room upon request until 10 a.m.
The view from our room was to some kind of backyard and emergency exit stairs – rather good than bad.
The curtains were not completely black out, but black out enough to get a good night's sleep.
There are bins for separate waste collection in the room and outside.
The WiFi connection was alright.
Location wise is central of Asian part of Istanbul and good start for exploration of the city.
Our room was super clean and comfortable that we are certain to come back whenever we return to Istanbul.
Definitely recommend this hotel!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
