The building sits right on Mumhane Sokak in Besiktas, and honestly, the name isn’t overselling anything — you really are at the edge of one of the world’s most famous waterways. I mean, when you can literally see the Bosphorus from your window, you know you’ve found something special in Istanbul.

Location & Neighborhood

Besiktas is one of those neighborhoods that locals actually live in, which gives you a much more authentic Istanbul experience than staying in the tourist-heavy Sultanahmet area. You’re walking distance from the Besiktas ferry terminal — actually, it’s maybe a five-minute stroll — which connects you to both the European and Asian sides of the city. The Saturday market nearby is incredible if you want to pick up some Turkish delights or just watch the organized chaos of local life unfold. Plus, Dolmabahce Palace is practically next door, and you can easily walk to Ortakoy for those famous kumpir (stuffed baked potatoes) that everyone raves about.

The Apartment

This two-bedroom setup works perfectly for couples who want space to spread out, or honestly, for small families who don’t want to feel cramped. The living area opens up to those Bosphorus views I mentioned, and you’ll find yourself just sitting there watching the ferries and fishing boats go by. The kitchen is actually functional — not just a mini-fridge and hot plate situation — so you can grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and cook if you want to save some lira. The bedrooms are comfortable without being fancy, and there’s enough storage space that you won’t be living out of your suitcase the entire time.

Getting Around

Here’s what I really appreciated: you’re not stuck relying on taxis or trying to figure out the metro system. The ferry connections from Besiktas are fantastic, and taking the boat across to Uskudar or down to Eminonu is half the fun of staying here. If you do need to get somewhere quickly, the Besiktas metro station connects you to the main line, and there are always dolmus (shared taxis) running along the coastal road. You know what’s great though? You can walk to so many places from here that you might not even need public transport that often.
