Sogut Hotel Old City
First Impressions
Walking up to Sogut Hotel Old City on a quiet side street in Fatih, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something good. This four-star property sits right in the heart of historic Istanbul, and honestly — the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that classic Istanbul charm without trying too hard, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that they’ve put thought into making guests comfortable.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Fatih — you’re literally surrounded by history, but it’s not touristy in an overwhelming way. The Şehzadebaşı area gives you easy access to the Grand Bazaar and major sights, but you’re tucked away enough on Bukalide Street that you actually get some peace and quiet. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot (they rate the location 9.3, which honestly makes sense), and I can see why. You can walk to most of the big attractions, but when you want to escape the crowds, you just duck back to your quiet street.
The Room Experience
Let me tell you about the beds — because apparently this hotel has figured out something that many others haven’t. Guests consistently rave about how comfortable they are, and after a long day of walking around Istanbul’s hills and cobblestones, that matters more than you might think. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being flashy, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the basics absolutely right rather than overwhelming you with unnecessary extras.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast setup here is actually pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet options, which gives you flexibility depending on whether you’re rushing out to beat the crowds at Hagia Sophia or taking a leisurely morning. I appreciate when hotels understand that travelers have different rhythms, and the variety means you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. The quality is what you’d expect from a well-run four-star property, nothing groundbreaking but definitely satisfying.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how recent guests keep rating the location so highly (9.2 out of 10), and when you experience it yourself, you understand why. It’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to authentic Istanbul life but still have easy access to everything you want to see. The staff seems to genuinely care about guest comfort — you can tell because the little things work well here, from the bed quality to the room setup. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being tucked away in historic Fatih while still being steps from Istanbul’s most iconic experiences. You know what? Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that don’t try to be everything to everyone — they just do their thing really well.
Hotel in Istanbul bookings climb during Ramadan evenings, so planners secure suites before lantern-lit bazaars bloom.

Guest Reviews
2) The receptionist was attentive and can speak english. The concierge is exceptional who helped me with my bags, showed and walked with me to the nearby restaurant since I was clueless where to eat at 10pm. The same concierge came to my rescue by guiding the uber drivers how to get there and carried my bags in the rain around 100 feet away when the hotel access was blocked.
3) Quiet and spacious room, enough to arrange 2 big luggage bags and perform prayers for muslim. Beds were comfortable and we slept soundly.
4) Decent breakfast with local dishes
5) Around 10 mins walk to Aksaray tram station
6) 2 elevators were working well
(2 bottle of free water in the room every day ) - that was nice.
