Six Senses Kocatas Mansions
First Impressions
Walking into Six Senses Kocatas Mansions honestly feels like stepping into someone’s incredibly well-appointed private estate rather than a hotel. This five-star property sits right on the Bosphorus in Sarıyer, and I mean right on it — you can practically reach out and touch the water from some windows. The building itself is this beautifully restored Ottoman mansion that somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate at the same time, which isn’t easy to pull off.
The Sarıyer Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Sarıyer instead of the usual Sultanahmet tourist zone — you get to see how Istanbul actually lives and breathes. This neighborhood sits on the European side where the Bosphorus meets the Black Sea, so there’s this constant parade of fishing boats, ferries, and the occasional massive cargo ship drifting past your window. You’re about 30 minutes from the main sights (which honestly isn’t bad considering you avoid all the crowds), but you’ve got authentic fish restaurants and local cafes right at your doorstep. The couples who stay here seem to get it — they rated the location 8.7, probably because there’s something genuinely romantic about watching the sun set over the water without fighting through tour groups.
Luxury Meets Authenticity
Each room feels like a carefully curated piece of art, but not in that sterile museum way that some luxury hotels fall into. The Six Senses people really know what they’re doing when it comes to blending Ottoman architectural details with modern comfort — think original wooden floors and ornate ceilings paired with the kind of bathroom that makes you want to take three showers a day. What struck me most was how they’ve managed to preserve the mansion’s character while adding all those little touches that make a stay genuinely special, like the way the morning light filters through the traditional Turkish windows.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
The breakfast situation here is actually impressive, and I don’t say that lightly. They’ve got continental options, sure, but they also do vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free without making any of it feel like an afterthought. You know what I mean — sometimes hotels just slap a few sad alternatives on a side table and call it inclusive. Not here. Everything feels intentional, from the local honey to the fresh bread that’s clearly made on-site. Plus, eating breakfast while watching the Bosphorus wake up is the kind of experience that makes you understand why people become travel writers in the first place.
Why Guests Love It
With an 8.8 rating, this place clearly hits the mark for most people, and I think it’s because Six Senses Kocatas Mansions delivers on something that’s getting harder to find — authentic luxury. The parking situation is sorted (which matters more than you’d think in Istanbul), the location gives you that perfect balance of accessibility and escape, and the whole experience feels genuinely Turkish rather than generically international. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself sitting by the water with a Turkish coffee, watching the city’s rhythm unfold, and thinking you’ve discovered something special that not everyone knows about yet.

Guest Reviews
My accommodation was in room 224, it’s a courtyard view but I enjoyed the Bosphorus partial view! High ceiling, large windows, spacious, nice layout, heated marble bathroom, high quality toiletries, comfy bed, high-tech system for the lights and shades. I didn’t experience any noise even the music in the courtyard did not disturb me.
To make it a stay for the body and soul I gifted myself a traditional turkish bath, the spa is in the top of the mountain! So you can give it a hike or the hotel is offering golf car to take you there, stunning view from the top. I enjoyed the spa facilities sauna and steam room before the hamam which done by a turkish lady her name is Behar, very nice experience.
Hint: choose your stay with breakfast and the spa is a must to try!
My breakfast experience at chef Erdal was very pleasant, very cozy and relaxed ambience in the glass house. i have been served by Dogan very attentive, friendly and super professional, he speaks English very well and this is a plus for non-Turkish speakers, also thanks to Elif, she speaks English as well, very helpful and friendly, believe me your experience will be perfect when they both in duty.
The menu is ‘A la carte’ with a small buffet, very fresh ingredients, well presented, and delicious.
Hint: don’t go when you’re in low carb diet as their bakery selection is irresistible and heavenly good 😋
a very big huge Brothers from khalifa
