Here’s something most tourists don’t realize about staying in Bakirkoy — you’re actually in one of Istanbul‘s most livable neighborhoods, away from the tourist chaos but still connected to everything. The hotel sits right along the Marmara Sea coastline, which means you can take morning walks along the water (something I definitely recommend). The area has this relaxed, residential feel during the day, but there are plenty of local restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Plus, getting to the historic center is straightforward via metro — about 30 minutes, which honestly isn’t bad for a city this size.

The Room Experience

My room faced the sea, and I have to say, waking up to that view never got old during my stay. The space itself is what you’d expect from Sheraton — clean lines, comfortable bed, and everything works as it should. The bathroom was particularly well-appointed, with a separate shower that actually had good water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue in hotels). What I appreciated most was the attention to detail — good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets, and blackout curtains that actually block out light.

Breakfast and Dining

The breakfast buffet here is honestly impressive — and I say that as someone who’s usually skeptical of hotel breakfast spreads. They’ve got everything covered: continental options, Turkish specialties, and they’re surprisingly good about dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free options are all clearly marked). The restaurant area overlooks the water, so you’re eating with a view. I mean, there’s something about having your morning coffee while watching ships pass by on the Marmara that just sets the right tone for the day.

What really sets this place apart is the combination of location and service — couples especially seem to get this, rating the location nearly a 9 out of 10. The fact that there’s free parking on-site is huge if you’re driving (trust me, finding parking in Istanbul can be a nightmare).   The hotel is in a great location, not too far from the Istanbul Fair Center and the city. It’s conveniently close to a Starbucks, a supermarket, and a petrol station. Getting around is easy with taxis, the Metro, or buses readily available. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the bed is big and very comfortable, making for an even more enjoyable stay.
