Sadaret Hotel-Old City Sultanahmet Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Sadaret Hotel-Old City Sultanahmet on Kucuk Ayasofya Street, you immediately know you’ve found something special. This four-star boutique property sits right in the heart of Sultanahmet — I mean, you’re literally surrounded by centuries of history here. The building itself has that perfect blend of Ottoman charm and modern comfort that you hope for but rarely find in Istanbul. Honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering. The hotel’s design seamlessly merges historical elements with contemporary conveniences.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s amazing about staying here? You can walk to the Blue Mosque in about three minutes, and Hagia Sophia is practically next door. I’ve stayed in other parts of the city, and trust me — having everything this close changes your entire Istanbul experience. The street itself (Kucuk Ayasofya) is one of those cobblestone lanes where you’ll find local tea houses tucked between souvenir shops. Couples especially seem to love wandering these historic streets together — the hotel mentioned they rate the location incredibly highly for romantic trips, and I can see why.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that sweet spot between authentic character and modern amenities. My room had traditional Turkish textiles mixed with contemporary furnishings — nothing felt forced or overly themed. The windows actually open (which isn’t always a given), and if you’re lucky enough to get one facing the right direction, you might catch glimpses of the Marmara Sea between the buildings. The bathrooms are well-appointed, though not huge — but honestly, you’re not coming to Istanbul to spend time in your hotel room anyway.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens on the rooftop terrace, and this is where the hotel really shines. You’re eating Turkish cheese and olives while looking out over minarets and Byzantine domes — it’s almost surreal. The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, which makes a difference when you need directions or recommendations. They pointed me toward a little restaurant around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. The evening call to prayer echoing from multiple mosques while you’re having tea on the terrace is an unforgettable Istanbul moment.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart isn’t just the prime location (though that 9.7 location score speaks for itself) — it’s how the hotel feels integrated into the neighborhood rather than separate from it. You’re staying in the real Sultanahmet, not some tourist bubble version of it. The combination of being steps from major sights while still feeling like you’re experiencing authentic Istanbul daily life is pretty rare. Plus, the staff’s genuine helpfulness and the building’s character make it feel more like staying with knowledgeable locals than just checking into another hotel. This property truly captures the essence of historic Istanbul.
To book a hotel in Istanbul during tulip festivals, visitors plan ahead to blend palace garden strolls with rooftop meze nights.

Sadaret Hotel boasts a prime location, just a short walk from the Blue Mosque. From our apartment, we had a beautiful view of the mosque, which looked especially stunning when lit up at night. The apartment was cozy and well-equipped, featuring comfortable beds, a washing machine with a dryer cycle, and a heated towel rack—everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although there's no elevator, the staff were incredibly helpful and assisted with our luggage. The manager was warm and welcoming, and the staff were always available to answer questions or assist with arranging tours. A wonderful choice for anyone visiting Istanbul!

Mr. Anur, Ramadan, Bari, all guys are well educated, English speaking staff, exceedingly friendly and hospitable, ready to help in any way immaginable, went out of their way to take care of our rented car, gave us umbrellas when it was raining, everything was great. Meet and greet snacks during Xmas and New Years, tean and coffee into the room, hamam perfectly and spotless clean, claning every morning, toiletries always available, 10++++++ *****

This is the best hotel in the old city, great location, quiet cozy area. Everything in the room is thought out to the smallest detail for a comfortable stay. Very friendly staff, they speak excellent English, are always ready to help and treat you to coffee. I have been to Istanbul many times in different hotels, this hotel is better than all the previous ones and I want to return to it again.
