Rayelin Hotel Old Town
First Impressions
Walking up to Rayelin Hotel Old Town on Sofular Street, you immediately get that feeling — you know, when you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star boutique property sits right in the heart of Fatih, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here to actually experience Istanbul rather than just pass through it. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which I actually appreciate in a city where so many places try too hard.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Istanbul — you’re walking distance from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Grand Bazaar, but you’re not stuck in the absolute chaos of the main tourist strips. Sofular Street has this authentic neighborhood feel where you’ll see locals going about their daily business alongside visitors. I mean, step outside and you’re maybe ten minutes from Sultanahmet Square, but you can also duck into genuine local cafes and shops that haven’t been completely touristified yet. The couples who stay here clearly get it — there’s something romantic about wandering these old streets together, especially in the early morning when the light hits those Ottoman-era buildings just right.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed — not huge, but everything felt intentional and well-placed. What struck me most was how they managed to blend modern comfort with subtle nods to traditional Turkish design without making it feel like a theme park. The bed was genuinely comfortable (you know how hit-or-miss hotel beds can be), and the bathroom was spotless with good water pressure — honestly, sometimes it’s these basic things that make or break a stay. The windows actually open, which might sound silly, but there’s something nice about getting real fresh air instead of just recycled AC.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here is where they really shine, and I can see why guests keep mentioning it. They’ve got this buffet setup that covers all the bases — continental options if you want something light, proper American-style items, and halal choices that feel authentic rather than like an afterthought. What I appreciated was the quality of the Turkish items especially; the cheese, olives, and fresh bread reminded me why Turkish breakfasts are legendary. The restaurant area has these big windows that let in tons of natural light, and the staff actually seems to care about keeping everything fresh and well-stocked throughout the morning.
Why Guests Love It
Look, with a 9.5 rating, this place is clearly doing something right, and after staying here, I get it. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Istanbul — instead, it focuses on getting the fundamentals absolutely right while giving you genuine access to one of the city’s most historic neighborhoods. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward experiences you might miss otherwise. There’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car much from this location. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than in a tourist bubble, and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to connect with a city like Istanbul.
Early hotels booking in Istanbul secures dervish ceremonies, Grand Bazaar styling sessions, and private yacht picnics.

Guest Reviews
The place is good and accessible to all the locations thru metro n tram which was a good benefit for us, the area is full of shops and make the shopping easier for some choice of clothes
They serve good breakfast as well. Enjoyed my stay!
We stayed in room 503 and had a decent internet connection (D:20/U:20). Additionally, upon request, they provided a crib for our 10-month-old baby. The crib was spacious and comfortable and fit perfectly next to our double bed. The mattress on the double bed was very comfortable, and the room had two sets of pillows—one higher and one lower—so we could choose what suited us best.
The small kitchenette in the room was very practical and fully functional, which was very helpful during our stay. The hotel staff was friendly and always available, and we would especially like to thank the manager, Mehmet and his colleague Nasrin for fulfilling every request we had and assisting us with any questions.
We also highly recommend using the hotel’s transport service. It was affordable, comfortable, and safe. The driver was very attentive and did not drive aggressively like many other city taxi drivers. The breakfast at the hotel was varied and tasty, with options that catered to our needs, and there was even a high chair available in the restaurant. Although the hotel doesn’t offer lunch or dinner, there are at least a dozen local restaurants within a 2-minute walk, all of which offer "eat out" options. The hotel also allows guests to bring food and drinks into their rooms, which is an added bonus.
The hotel's location is very well connected to public transport. Within a 10-minute walk, you can reach all major transport stations (bus, tram, metro), making it easy to get around the city.
Small room, but spotless and very comfortable bed.
Friendly and helpful reception staff.
The location is good, too, as very close to public transport.
