It’s tucked away on a quiet side street in Istanbul‘s Kadikoy district — honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking for it. The building itself has that authentic Turkish charm without trying too hard, and there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” from the outside.

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right in the heart of one of Istanbul’s most genuine neighborhoods, away from the tourist crowds of Sultanahmet but still incredibly well-connected. Kadikoy is where actual Istanbulites hang out, which means amazing local eateries, proper Turkish coffee shops, and that buzzing energy you get on the Asian side of the city. The ferry terminal is practically around the corner, so getting across to the European side is actually pretty easy. Plus, you know what? Walking through these streets in the evening gives you a real sense of how locals live.

Your Room

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully arranged — they’ve clearly put effort into making the most of the space without it feeling cramped. The bed was comfortable enough (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom was clean with decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in this part of the city. What struck me was how quiet it gets at night despite being in such a lively area — the windows do a good job of keeping street noise out, and Alptekin Sokak itself is pretty peaceful once the sun goes down.

Local Dining Scene

You won’t find a fancy hotel restaurant here, but that’s actually perfect because Kadikoy’s food scene is incredible. There’s this little place about two blocks away that does the best menemen I’ve had in Istanbul — the staff will point you in the right direction. The morning markets are close by too, so if you’re into that whole authentic Turkish breakfast experience, you can grab fresh simit and cheese from the vendors. I mean, staying here forces you to eat like a local, which is exactly what you want.
