Istanbul Midpoint Hotel
First Impressions
Walking into Istanbul Midpoint Hotel, you immediately get that feeling of being in the right place at the right time. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Aksaray, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring both the historic peninsula and the modern parts of Istanbul. The lobby has this clean, contemporary feel without being too flashy — you know what I mean, it’s polished but not trying too hard to impress.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Aksaray that most guidebooks don’t tell you — it’s actually one of the most connected neighborhoods in the city. You’re literally minutes from the metro, tram, and bus lines that’ll take you anywhere you want to go. Sultanahmet and all those major sights? Easy fifteen-minute ride. The Grand Bazaar is practically walkable if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll. What I really appreciated was how this area feels authentically Turkish — you’re not stuck in some tourist bubble, but you’re also not completely off the beaten path.
The Room Experience
My room was on the sixth floor, and I have to say, the views over the city were pretty spectacular, especially at sunset. The space itself was well-designed — not huge, but everything had its place, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (which isn’t always a given, let’s be honest). The bathroom was modern and clean, with good water pressure, which after a long day of walking around Istanbul’s hills, you’ll definitely appreciate. Air conditioning worked perfectly too, which in summer here is absolutely essential.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast buffet deserves a mention because it’s actually quite good — and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel breakfasts. They serve halal options, which is thoughtful, and there’s a nice mix of Turkish and international dishes. The Turkish breakfast items were particularly fresh — proper cheese, olives, honey, and that amazing Turkish bread. I mean, you could easily skip lunch after eating here. The dining area gets busy around 8-9 AM, so if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll have the place mostly to yourself.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances accessibility with authenticity. You’re staying in a neighborhood where real Istanbul life happens — there are local cafes, small shops, and that genuine city energy — but you can still get to Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque without any hassle. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the city, and they’re not just pushing expensive tours. Couples especially seem to love it here, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about watching the city light up from your window while planning your next day’s adventure. For the price point, you’re getting solid comfort in one of the best-connected parts of the city.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Istanbul around Cihangir for bohemian cafés, antique shops, and leafy pocket parks.
