Walking into Hotel Boursier 1 & Spa in Istanbul’s Mecidiyeköy district, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel. Sure, it’s a four-star property in what’s essentially a commercial area, but there’s something more thoughtful about the whole setup. The lobby has this understated elegance — not flashy, just well-considered — and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which honestly surprised me.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about staying in Mecidiyeköy — you’re right in the thick of modern Istanbul without the tourist crowds of Sultanahmet. The metro station is literally a few minutes’ walk away, so getting to the old city or Taksim is straightforward. What really works is that you’re surrounded by actual Istanbul life — local cafes, shopping centers, and that authentic buzz of a working neighborhood. Couples seem to get this location particularly well, and I can see why — it feels like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve had in Istanbul. The beds here are genuinely excellent — not just hotel marketing speak, but actually supportive and well-made.
