Antusa Design Hotel & Spa Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Antusa Design Hotel & Spa feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in the maze of Istanbul’s historic peninsula. This four-star boutique property sits on a quiet side street just steps from the Basilica Cistern — honestly, you can’t get much more central than this. The lobby immediately catches your eye with its contemporary design that somehow doesn’t clash with the ancient neighborhood surrounding it. I mean, when couples are rating the location 9.9 out of 10, you know you’re onto something special.
Perfect Positioning
The hotel’s location is actually ridiculous — in the best possible way. You’re literally in Sultanahmet, which means the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are a five-minute walk away. But here’s what I love: while you’re in the thick of everything historic, the hotel sits on Salkımsöğüt Sokak, a narrow street that feels worlds away from the tourist crowds. You know what’s great about this? You get all the benefits of being central without the constant noise and chaos that comes with some of the main drag hotels.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and local character. Each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate — there’s attention to detail that you notice right away. The bathrooms are particularly well done, and honestly, after a long day of exploring Istanbul’s hills, having a proper shower makes all the difference. What surprised me was how quiet everything stays despite being so centrally located; the side street location really pays off when you’re trying to sleep.
Breakfast and Dining
The breakfast spread here covers all the bases — continental options, vegetarian choices, halal selections, and even gluten-free items if you need them. It’s set up buffet-style, which works well because you can sample Turkish specialties alongside familiar options. The restaurant area has this nice morning light that makes starting your day feel relaxed rather than rushed. I particularly appreciated that they understand dietary restrictions; it’s not always a given in smaller boutique properties.
Why Guests Love It
The spa facilities add that extra touch that elevates this place beyond just a well-located hotel — after walking Istanbul’s cobblestones all day, having access to proper relaxation amenities feels essential. But really, it comes down to location and execution. You’re staying in the heart of Byzantine and Ottoman history, yet you’ve got modern amenities and design sensibilities. The staff seems to understand that guests want both authentic Istanbul experiences and contemporary comfort. When you factor in that couples consistently rave about the location for romantic getaways, it’s clear this place has figured out how to deliver on what travelers actually want rather than just what looks good in photos.
To book a hotel in Istanbul during tulip festivals, visitors plan ahead to blend palace garden strolls with rooftop meze nights.

Our stay at ANTUSA DESIGN HOTEL & SPA in Istanbul was truly delightful! The hotel’s prime location near Ayasofya made it an excellent choice for exploring the city’s historic sites.
A special thanks to Mr. Hamdullah at the reception for his warm hospitality and professionalism. He, along with the rest of the staff, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. The breakfast was also very good, with a nice variety to start the day.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul and will definitely stay here again in the future!Darius from Lithuania (9/10)
